37 weeks

Before we know it Nixon will be here and I will officially be a mom and Gavin will officially be a dad.

This is one of the first times we saw our son:

We are getting so excited to be able to see him in person and to be able to hold and kiss him for the first time. It has been a long, rough pregnancy but worth every bit of it. My due date (July 26th) always seemed so far away, but now as it is only 2 weeks away feels like tomorrow.

Our home is all ready, we have everything we need. Gavin has even installed the base to our car seat. Now we really are just waiting on our precious Nixon to arrive.

When we went into the doctor last week the doctor estimated Nixon's weight at 8 1/2 lbs. and at that time we still had 3 weeks to go. That would mean we are in for a BIG boy. If when we go in next week he is significantly bigger we may have to look into a c-section as an option or the doctor inducing my labor. As of now we just wait to see how the appointment goes on monday.

Thank you for all your prayers, support and gifts. We appreciate them all and will keep you updated on when our little one is to join us!

Count your blessings

While I lived in fresno in the dorms a girlfriend of mine and I put construction paper on the back of my bedroom door and put, "Count your blessings" across the top. We decided to write all the things we are thankful for on it and to continually add to it. It became a place not only we wrote on, but my roommate and a few others did also.
I don't know what brought this door into my mind today, but I have so much to be thankful for and I don't have a door to write it on anymore; so I figured I'd write them on a blog.

Blessings in my life:
  • a wonderful, loving, supportive, handsome, smart, driven husband
  • supportive and loving [entire] family (his & mine)
  • miracle of a son on the way
  • a beautiful home
  • God's provision
  • more stuff that we even need
  • a job
  • $ to pay the bills
  • friends who are always there
  • God's grace
  • doctors who do more than they have to
  • dvr
  • parents who are more than we could ask for
  • God's love
  • medicine that lets me live a 'normal' life
  • generosity of those around us
  • enough food for me to mess up cooking
I'll continue to add to this list

22 weeks

I am 22 weeks along and I could not be more excited. Although I haven't been feeling too well through this pregnancy yet, I am so excited to bring a little boy into this world with Gavin!!

On top of being excited I am also nervous. We are going to be responsible for another human being who can't care for himself, it is such an honor and such a responsibility. Now that the wedding has passed and we are more settled into our home I feel like I can focus on learning and preparing for this little boy. I just bought the book, "What to Expect When You're Expecting." I only got it two days ago and I have found it so helpful already. I am also enjoying talking to other women who have had children and learning from what they have experienced.

I can't wait for the day when I will get to look at our little boy in the face and tell him how much we love him already =)
